02Product Formulation, Mixing and Supply of Ingredients

2.1 Our Role

Vivere Bene does not manufacture any of the individual ingredients or raw materials used in its Room Mist products.

The alcohol, fragrance compositions, fragrance ingredients and any other formulation components used in the products are manufactured and/or supplied by independent commercial suppliers.

Vivere Bene purchases these ingredients and components from its suppliers and combines them according to formulations developed by Vivere Bene for its Room Mist range.

Accordingly, Vivere Bene’s activities in relation to the finished Room Mist consist principally of:

  • selecting commercially available ingredients and formulation components from suppliers;
  • developing its own Room Mist formulations and fragrance combinations;
  • measuring and mixing the supplied ingredients according to those formulations;
  • blending the ingredients;
  • filling the finished mixture into the relevant containers;
  • carrying out appropriate product and quality checks; and
  • labelling and packaging the finished Room Mist product.

Vivere Bene does not manufacture the underlying alcohol, fragrance compounds, fragrance oils, aroma chemicals or other raw materials used to create the Room Mist.

For the avoidance of doubt, references on this website to our Room Mist being “made”, “produced”, “formulated” or “prepared” by Vivere Bene mean that the finished product is formulated, mixed, blended, filled and packaged by Vivere Bene using ingredients obtained from third-party suppliers.

Such wording does not mean that Vivere Bene manufactures the individual chemical substances, fragrance ingredients or other raw materials used in the formulation.

2.2 Our Formulations

Although the individual ingredients are obtained from third-party suppliers, the combination, proportions and formulation used to produce our finished Room Mist products are developed by Vivere Bene.

The Room Mist is therefore created by combining commercially supplied ingredients according to our own developed formulation.

The formulation, proportions, methods, processes and other commercially sensitive information relating to the way in which the ingredients are combined may constitute confidential information, know-how and/or intellectual property of Vivere Bene and are not generally disclosed.

Where information concerning the finished formulation is legitimately required for safety, transport, regulatory, customs or import purposes, appropriate technical information may be made available subject to applicable legal requirements and legitimate confidentiality considerations.

03Third-Party Ingredients and Supplier Documentation

3.1 Commercially Supplied Ingredients

The ingredients incorporated into our Room Mist products are obtained from established commercial suppliers.

Depending on the particular formulation, these may include:

  • commercially manufactured alcohol or alcohol-based carriers;
  • commercially manufactured fragrance compositions;
  • fragrance oils and/or fragrance ingredients; and
  • other commercially supplied formulation components.

Vivere Bene relies upon its suppliers for the manufacture and supply of these individual raw materials.

We do not independently manufacture these raw materials and do not represent ourselves as the manufacturer of the individual ingredients supplied to us.

3.2 Supplier Specifications and Safety Information

Ingredients are selected with reference, where available and relevant, to information supplied by the relevant commercial supplier, which may include:

  • product specifications;
  • Safety Data Sheets;
  • technical data;
  • certificates or declarations;
  • compositional or regulatory information; and
  • fragrance-industry documentation.

The availability and nature of this documentation differs according to the supplier and ingredient concerned.

Vivere Bene does not independently recreate or manufacture the supplier’s raw material and relies, to a reasonable extent, upon technical, compositional and safety information supplied by the relevant manufacturer or supplier concerning that raw material.

3.3 No Representation of Government Approval

Supplier certificates, specifications, Safety Data Sheets, IFRA-related documentation or other supplier information must not be interpreted as governmental approval, registration, certification or endorsement of the finished Vivere Bene Room Mist product.

Similarly, the fact that an ingredient is commercially manufactured and supplied for fragrance or formulation purposes does not mean that it is universally safe, suitable for every possible application, allergen-free or incapable of causing sensitivity in particular individuals.

Vivere Bene does not make such representations.

04Fragrance Ingredients and Industry Standards

Fragrance compositions are generally complex mixtures and may contain numerous individual fragrance substances.

Vivere Bene does not manufacture the fragrance compositions or individual fragrance ingredients incorporated into its Room Mist formulations. These materials are obtained from commercial fragrance and ingredient suppliers.

Where available and applicable, fragrance materials are selected with reference to technical and safety documentation provided by the relevant supplier.

Such documentation should not be interpreted as meaning that Vivere Bene manufactures the fragrance ingredients or that the finished Vivere Bene Room Mist has been “approved”, “certified” or endorsed by IFRA or by a governmental authority.

An IFRA Certificate of Conformity does not replace compliance with applicable legislation or other product-specific safety and regulatory requirements.

05Important Distinction: What Vivere Bene Does and Does Not Do

For the benefit of distributors, importers, exporters, retailers and other trade partners, our role in producing the finished Room Mist can be summarised as follows:

What We Do

Vivere Bene:

  • develops its own Room Mist formulations;
  • sources ingredients from commercial suppliers;
  • selects the ingredients to be used in each formulation;
  • determines the proportions in which those ingredients are combined;
  • measures and mixes the supplied ingredients;
  • blends the finished formulation;
  • fills the Room Mist into its containers;
  • performs appropriate internal product and quality checks;
  • labels the finished products; and
  • packages the products for sale and distribution.

What We Do Not Do

Vivere Bene does not:

  • manufacture alcohol;
  • manufacture fragrance oils;
  • manufacture aroma chemicals;
  • manufacture individual fragrance substances;
  • manufacture the underlying chemical ingredients;
  • manufacture the raw materials supplied to us; or
  • claim to be the original manufacturer of those supplier-produced ingredients.

Our Room Mist is therefore a Vivere Bene-developed formulation made by mixing and blending commercially supplied ingredients according to our own formula, rather than a product in which Vivere Bene manufactures the underlying raw materials or chemical ingredients.

06Typical Composition

Our Room Mist formulations generally comprise:

Alcohol / Alcohol-Based Carrier
Commercially manufactured alcohol or an alcohol-based carrier obtained from a third-party supplier. It acts principally as a carrier and assists with fragrance dispersion and evaporation.
Fragrance Composition
A commercially manufactured fragrance composition and/or fragrance ingredients obtained from third-party suppliers and selected for use within our proprietary Room Mist formulation.
Other Formulation Components
Depending on the particular product, additional commercially supplied components may be incorporated for formulation performance, stability or fragrance characteristics.

The exact composition and proportions may vary between products and fragrances.

Detailed compositional information, where legitimately required for regulatory, customs, transport or safety purposes, may be made available subject to the nature of the request, applicable law, supplier confidentiality requirements and protection of Vivere Bene’s proprietary formulation information.

07Intended Use

The product is intended to fragrance indoor ambient air.

Use only as directed on the product label.

Unless expressly stated otherwise on the relevant product label, the Room Mist is not intended to be used as:

  • a personal perfume or body fragrance;
  • a cosmetic or skincare product;
  • a medicine or therapeutic product;
  • a disinfectant or sanitiser;
  • a pesticide or insect repellent;
  • a cleaning product;
  • a food or beverage;
  • a vaping or inhalation product; or
  • any product intended for ingestion.

No medical, therapeutic, disinfecting, sanitising or disease-prevention claims are made in relation to the product.

08Important Flammability Information

Vivere Bene does not manufacture the alcohol or alcohol-based carrier. The commercially supplied alcohol-based carrier is incorporated into the Room Mist as part of Vivere Bene’s own developed formulation.

The supplier’s Safety Data Sheet for the alcohol-based carrier identifies that material as flammable.

Accordingly, the finished Room Mist must be handled, stored and used with appropriate precautions relating to flammable alcohol-based fragrance products.

Keep the Room Mist away from:

  • candles;
  • fireplaces;
  • gas burners and pilot lights;
  • cigarettes and smoking materials;
  • electrical or other equipment capable of producing sparks or significant heat; and
  • any other potential source of ignition.

Do not smoke while using, handling, filling, storing or transferring the product.

Do not spray the Room Mist towards or onto an open flame, candle, fireplace, heating appliance, electrical equipment, electrical outlet, hot surface or other potential ignition source.

Do not use or store the product in close proximity to open flames or other ignition sources.

Ventilation

Use in an appropriately ventilated indoor area.

Do not deliberately spray excessive quantities of the product into a confined or poorly ventilated space.

Avoid deliberate or prolonged inhalation of concentrated spray or vapour.

Storage and Fire Safety

Store the product:

  • upright;
  • securely closed;
  • in its original labelled container;
  • in a cool, dry and appropriately ventilated place;
  • away from direct sunlight;
  • away from heat;
  • away from sparks, flames and other ignition sources; and
  • away from incompatible materials.

Do not leave or store the product close to fireplaces, heaters, cooking appliances, candles or other sources of heat or ignition.

Commercial Storage and Distribution

Distributors, importers, exporters, retailers, warehouse operators and transport providers must determine and comply with the storage, warehousing, handling, fire-safety and dangerous-goods requirements applicable to the product, quantities concerned, mode of transport and relevant jurisdiction.

The classification and transport information contained in a supplier’s Safety Data Sheet for an individual raw material should not automatically be treated as the classification or transport information for the finished Vivere Bene Room Mist.

The finished Room Mist is a mixture formulated by Vivere Bene from commercially supplied ingredients. Product-specific hazard classification, transport classification and Safety Data Sheet information should therefore relate to the finished formulation.

Product-specific hazard classification and handling information should be read together with the applicable product label and Safety Data Sheet (“SDS”), where supplied.

Where a product-specific SDS or label contains more specific safety instructions, those instructions take precedence over this general website information.

09Safe Handling

Use only for its intended purpose.

Keep securely out of reach of children and pets.

Do not ingest.

Do not spray directly onto:

  • the face;
  • eyes;
  • skin;
  • hair;
  • persons;
  • animals;
  • food;
  • beverages; or
  • food-preparation surfaces.

Avoid eye contact.

Avoid deliberately inhaling the concentrated spray or spraying the product directly towards the nose or mouth.

Use in an appropriately ventilated area.

Do not deliberately spray excessive quantities into a confined or poorly ventilated space.

Do not mix the product with bleach, household cleaners, sanitisers, water, oils or other chemicals.

Do not dilute the product.

Do not remove or obscure the original product label.

Do not decant the product into beverage containers, food containers or unlabelled containers.

10Fabrics and Surfaces

Unless specifically authorised on the product label, the product is primarily intended for air fragrancing rather than direct surface application.

Where fabric application is expressly permitted, first test the product on a small, hidden area and allow it to dry completely.

Do not spray directly onto delicate or potentially reactive materials, including:

  • polished or painted wood;
  • leather;
  • silk;
  • suede;
  • acrylic surfaces;
  • certain plastics;
  • artwork;
  • electronics;
  • natural or engineered stone;
  • varnished surfaces;
  • food-contact surfaces; or
  • delicate finishes.

Alcohol and fragrance ingredients can react differently with different coatings, dyes, finishes and materials.

Accidental overspray should be wiped away promptly using a method appropriate for the affected surface.

11Storage

Store the product:

  • upright;
  • securely closed;
  • in its original labelled container;
  • in a cool, dry and appropriately ventilated location;
  • away from direct sunlight;
  • away from heat;
  • away from sparks, flames and ignition sources; and
  • away from incompatible materials.

Observe any product-specific storage temperature or additional storage conditions appearing on the label or relevant SDS.

Do not freeze unless product-specific information expressly permits freezing.

Stock should be managed using appropriate inventory-control procedures and batch/lot information should remain traceable throughout the distribution chain.

12Product Appearance and Fragrance Characteristics

Depending upon the particular fragrance and formulation, the finished product may be clear, lightly coloured or display characteristics associated with the fragrance materials used.

Fragrance materials are complex compositions.

Minor differences in colour, clarity or fragrance nuance may occasionally occur between production batches while remaining within the relevant product specification. Such variations do not necessarily indicate a product defect.

Fragrance perception is inherently subjective.

The perceived strength, character and longevity of a room fragrance may be influenced by factors including:

  • room size;
  • ventilation and airflow;
  • ambient temperature;
  • humidity;
  • furnishings;
  • curtains and carpets;
  • application quantity and frequency; and
  • individual fragrance perception or habituation.

Accordingly, no specific fragrance duration can be guaranteed for every room or environment unless expressly stated in writing for a particular product.

13Sensitivity and Allergen Information

Fragrance formulations may contain substances capable of causing sensitivity or allergic reactions in susceptible individuals.

We therefore do not represent that the products are universally allergen-free, hypoallergenic or suitable for every individual.

Anyone who has concerns regarding their individual sensitivity to fragrance or any ingredient should obtain appropriate professional advice before using the product.

Use should be discontinued if an adverse reaction or significant discomfort occurs.

This website provides general product and technical information only and does not provide medical advice.

14Disposal

Dispose of unused product, contaminated material and packaging responsibly and in accordance with applicable municipal, provincial and national requirements.

Do not deliberately discharge large quantities of product into drains, stormwater systems, soil or natural waterways.

Commercial distributors should determine whether additional waste-management requirements apply to commercial quantities of the product in their jurisdiction.

15Product Integrity

Products supplied for resale should remain in their original packaging unless otherwise agreed by Vivere Bene in writing.

Without our prior written authorisation, distributors, retailers, exporters and other trade partners must not:

  • alter the formulation;
  • dilute the product;
  • add another substance;
  • mix the product with another product;
  • refill the bottle with another substance;
  • remove or replace safety information;
  • obscure batch or traceability information; or
  • represent an altered product as an original product supplied by Vivere Bene.

Any alteration of the formulation may change the product’s fragrance performance, stability, flammability, chemical characteristics and safety profile.

16Important Information for Distributors and Importers

Prospective distributors and importers should understand the distinction between supplier-manufactured raw materials and the finished Vivere Bene formulation.

Technical documentation relating to an individual raw material may have been prepared by the manufacturer or supplier of that material.

Documentation relating to the finished Room Mist should be considered separately and in the context of the complete finished formulation.

A supplier’s Safety Data Sheet, specification, certificate or other technical documentation relating to an individual ingredient should not automatically be regarded as technical documentation for the finished Room Mist product.

Where a distributor or importer requires information for a particular regulatory, customs, transport or product-compliance purpose, the specific information required should be identified to Vivere Bene so that we can determine what documentation is available and may appropriately be provided.

17Information for International Distributors and Importers

Our Room Mist products are formulated, blended, filled and packaged in South Africa using ingredients obtained from commercial suppliers.

Regulatory, labelling, chemical, environmental, packaging, dangerous-goods, customs, consumer-protection and product-registration requirements differ between countries.

The fact that a product may lawfully be formulated and supplied in South Africa does not automatically mean that it may be imported, distributed or sold in another country without additional regulatory requirements.

Before importing or distributing the products, the importer or distributor is responsible for determining the requirements applicable within the destination country, including, where relevant:

  • product registration or notification;
  • chemical classification;
  • labelling and language requirements;
  • SDS requirements;
  • fragrance or chemical restrictions;
  • packaging requirements;
  • flammable-liquid storage;
  • dangerous-goods transportation;
  • customs requirements;
  • environmental requirements;
  • consumer-product requirements; and
  • any required licences, permits, approvals or notifications.

Vivere Bene will reasonably assist legitimate distributors by providing technical information available to us where appropriate.

However, the importer or distributor remains responsible for obtaining independent advice regarding the legal and regulatory requirements applicable in the jurisdiction in which the product will be imported, marketed, distributed or sold.

18South African Regulatory Context

Products formulated, packaged, marketed and supplied by Vivere Bene in South Africa remain subject to applicable South African legislation and regulatory requirements.

Nothing contained on this webpage or in our technical documentation is intended to exclude or limit any right, obligation or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
